CHRISTINE HOUSTON

I am an associate attorney with a passion for Family Law and Domestic Violence work. I meticulously strive to ensure that every client not only receives superior representation, but also feels comfortable and engaged in the process.

I am originally from the beaches of Lewes, Delaware. After graduating high school, I attended the University of Delaware, where I double-majored in Criminal Justice and Sociology, and minored in Women’s Studies. While at UD, I was an active member of Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity committed to volunteering throughout the community. During my senior year, I completed an externship with the Family Court in Wilmington, Delaware, which only fueled my growing interest in Family Law.

In 2012, I moved to Charlotte to pursue a legal career with an academic scholarship at Charlotte School of Law. During my studies there, I interned in various settings providing hands-on experience in Family Law. For example, I interned with Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Domestic Violence Program during my 2L year, where I learned the process and procedures of Protective Orders and helped screen clients for free legal representation. I also participated in the Family Advocacy Clinic with the Neighborhood Advocacy Center, representing parents who were facing termination of their parental rights. Additionally, I interned with three different family law firms in both Delaware and North Carolina during my legal studies. I also volunteer monthly as an Advocate with the Domestic Violence Healthcare Project at Carolina’s Medical Center, where I assist and counsel victims of domestic violence.

In my spare time, I enjoy exploring local Charlotte restaurants with friends, reading, and going for walks with my dog, Bella.

Practice Philosophy

My interest and commitment to the practice of family law stems from my own personal experience with divorce and child custody. I understand that the end of a marriage is not only devastating and stressful but also has ripple effects throughout other areas of life. My primary goal is to help my clients navigate through this difficult time in their lives with patience, understanding, and compassion.
